Courses on offer:

Environmental Education

(adapted as in-service -curriculum focused or informal education - based on organisations aims/ objectives)
  A two day course;
  • Day one- Theory, curriculum links, lesson planning, risk assessment & safety planning, child-centred working,learning styles and instructional techniques.
  • Day two- environmental games and activities covering various habitats (woodlands, rivers, coasts), animal interactions (food chains, webs, behaviour), waste & recycling, historical themes, storytelling, environmental art, and drama, icebreakers, problem solving and reviewing
Variations: one day condensed course or a focused course related to specific themes eg. forest activies or Eco Schools topics

 

Leadership Skills

A two day course:
  • Day one- People Centred Skills-ground rules, a good leader, motivation, learning styles & instructing others, job allocation,equal opportunities, review techniques.
  • Day two- Project Planning and H&S- tools talks, project planning, risk assessment, safety planning, catering and domestics, emergencies, responsibilities of a leader, the media and solving problems
Variations: one day condensed course (day leading) or week long - residential and international leading

 

Motivation/Team building

Course content varies depending on client groups aims and objectives but often is one day duration and contains:
  • Motivation - the theory and practicalities

  • Identifying individual  skills, knowledge and assets

  • Team roles

  • Exercises and activities to evaluate personal skills and the role within team

    A one day course covering:
    •   The programme and its structure
    • The evironmental review
    • The action plan
    • monitoring and reviewing
    • The eight topics - tips and activities

    Getting started with Enterprise projects

    A one day course covering:
    • Curriculum links
    • Setting up a enterprise commitee and team-building
    • Problem solving
    • resources and activities to use

    Linking the Curriculum for Excellence to Environmental issue

    A one day course covering: (the course an be tailored to your topic work or situation)

    • Reviewing the new curriculum guidelines & finding links, generating ideas considering cross- curricular link
    • Looking at initaitves/prgrammes to support environmental learning indoors and out
    • Simple steps to becoming more environmentally aware

    Active learning throughout the school - outdoors and in 

    A one day course tailored to your needs and curriculum interests. Looking at the use of active learning as a key tool in delivering the curriculum for excellence, linked to Eco schools - school grounds and environmental foot-printing.
